How to control AI agents and other non-human identities
The widespread use of AI agents and other non-human identities (NHIs) has dramatically increased business productivity and innovation, with NHIs now outnumbering human identities by as much as 50 to 1 in some enterprises. However, this rapid proliferation has also created a new and expanding attack surface, leaving organizations vulnerable to data breaches and fraud.
Unmanaged NHIs, which are often over-permissioned or not properly monitored, present a significant risk, as compromised credentials can grant attackers broad access to sensitive data and systems. To mitigate this risk, organizations must move away from fragmented, legacy identity systems and adopt a unified, identity-first security approach to manage and secure these non-human identities effectively.
