| 2024 Trends in Cyberattacks and Threats You Need to Know.
Aided by technological advancement, cyberattacks are only increasing in frequency and taking advantage of more sophisticated techniques.
Data collected by the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) recorded a record high 3,205 compromises in 2023, affecting more than 300 million individuals. Although the total victim count was less than previous years, the number of compromises increased over 70% from the previous year. Also notable was the increase in supply chain attacks, at more than 2,700 last year, which is an alarming 2,600% increase since 2018.
AI is being used to accelerate the exploitation timeline, leaving organisations scrambling to identify issues, roll out patches, and perform necessary remediations. On average, just slightly more than 50% of identified vulnerabilities were remediated by the 60-day mark, painting a clear picture of how attackers are leveraging current technology to scan systems and exploit vulnerabilities faster than ever before.
