This report analyzes attacker behavior over a 14-month period, based on data collected by Rapid7’s research, managed detection and response (MDR), and threat intelligence teams.
The main findings are as follows:
- This marks the second large-scale breach incident caused by a zero-day vulnerability in three years.
- 36% of the widely exploited vulnerabilities tracked by Rapid7 are related to network edge technologies.
- Approximately 5,600 ransomware incidents were reported between January 2023 and February 2024 (excluding unreported incidents).
